Ridings League Table

Unfortunately this is not finalised as the results have not yet been received from the Division 3 gala on 17th Sept. If any of the clubs can provide the final points total it would help!

Ridings League 2012

After much discussion at the Executive Committee meetings the league will have 3 Divisions in 2012
Premier 4 teams and teams in the 1st and 2nd Divisions. Please check the fixture list for details.
The age of a swimmer is that on 10th November 2012(the date of the RL Championships); a swimmer must be at least 9 on this date to swim in the Ridings League.

Developments during 2011

1. Web site This is receiving a steady set of "hits" and has helped promote our events and sport, along with a lot of positive feedback.

2. Open Water The first year of the Association supporting Open Water at Wykeham Lakes was a resounding success.
Sessions ran on a Monday from mid May to the end of August, with 50 swimmers taking part across the season.
Many swimmers then went on to achieve success in competition, in particular at the Yorkshire and North East Championships when six of our clubs were represented.
Medal winners were:
Girls 12/13 years; Jace Cappleman(Scarborough) wins North East and Yorkshire Gold with Emma Clapton(Scarborough) taking North East Bronze and Yorkshire Silver.
Girls 14/15 years; Jade Hutchinson(Scarborough) North East Bronze and Yorkshire Silver with Megan Lazenby(Beverley) gaining Yorkshire Bronze.
Girls 16/17years; Rebecca Cox(Scarborough) takes North East and Yorkshire Bronze.
Men's Open: Luke Kelly(Scarborough) wins North East Silver and Yorkshire Gold.
Women's Open: Lucy Recchia(New Earswick) takes North East and Yorkshire Gold, Sarah Roberts(Scarborough) wins Silver in both championships and Katie Mould(Scarborough) gets Yorkshire Bronze.
Both the Men's and Women's Open Sprint was dominated by the District's swimmers: Sarah Roberts(Scarborough) won North East and Yorkshire Gold, with Jess Oldcorn(Scarborough) taking the Silver in both events. Luke Kelly(Scarborough) similarly won North East and Yorkshire Gold.
Information about 2012 will go in the Open Water section as soon as it is available.

Proposed Developments for 2012

1. Electronic Recording A system using excel has been developed to record and calculate gala results in an attempt to ensure clarity and accuracy. Any clubs wanting to make use of this for their Ridings or Friendly galas should contact the Ridings League Secretary.

2. Masters swimming At the end of October the ASA Nationals took place at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. Some events had over 300 swimmers from across the country; however, the 14 clubs of the District were represented by a handful of swimmers. With quite a few clubs constantly struggling for older swimmers perhaps it is time to promote Masters. An outline of the initiative is in the new Masters section.
